Spin Recording Studios Open House

I was invited to go to the Spin Recording Studios open house last night. It was pretty awesome. The studio and all the rooms were immaculate. I don't think there was a spot of dust any were!

My favorite room was the grand piano live room... that room was bigger then my apartment in Brooklyn and possibly had more windows. Two of the control rooms there even had natural light coming from tinted windows, which set quite a nice vibe for the place.

I was invited by Josh Wilbur. He was extremely charming and gave me a whole tour of the place. He had  itunes playing in his control room of tracks that were recorded and/ or mixed there. The tracks were of Lamb of God and of his brother's band Too Late the Hero's. I also met up with Dave Weiss there.

I lovely time... even though I completely underdressed! Next time I'll know better =)

How Brooklyn Audio Rentals came to be

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Valerie Gentile. Brooklyn native, a graduate of Five Towns College in Dix Hills NY, with a Bachelors degree in audio, and  professional guitarist.

On the weekends in college, I would spend time recording various audio projects with my fellow aspiring engineers. Since we usually recorded on an Mbox or a Digi 001 with a SM 57; recordings never came out all that great. We were extremely limited to the equipment we had.

While attending Five Towns College,  I interned at the Magic Shop Recording Studio and Threshold Music in New York City. Those studios had magnificent professional equipment to work with. I learned what I needed to become quite an exceptional engineer. Unfortunately, when I was home in Brooklyn, I was stuck working with very limited gear.

Sometimes I would borrow gear from school or where I interned. It still limited me though and it was always pulling teeth asking if I could be lent gear. When I was granted access to it, it would be at least an hour trek to the city or Long Island. I'd often tell my self there has to be an easier way in Brooklyn of all place to do this.

Brooklyn has become an epicenter of rock and roll. Generations to come are going to be reading about the turn of the century music scene in Brooklyn. Will they just talk about the scene or remember the music as well? Brooklyn engineers should have access to better equipment to make their tracks more rememberable and golden.  The quality of the music should be better then what it is; without the hassle or the struggle to get equipment to meet todays standards.

Brooklyn New York needs a professional audio rental company!  Through the contacts I have made over the years, I have the opportunity to bring pro audio gear to the BK, for less then you would have to pay for a cab back and forth to the city, just to pick gear up.

No more excuses! Lets make music for the ages. It will be glorious.

Manhattan Sound Recording Studios and my B.A.R

I'm excited to learn that Manhattan Sound Recording Studios is officially opened... for those of you looking to get some studio time in NYC. The rates at this studio are crazy cheap and it's right in Mid-Town.

One of the control rooms there has a really nice view of the Manhattan sky line.
The studio also has a wide selection of great gear.

The web site might not be up and running yet but keep checking up on it.
